Higher education already has a common language
Higher education is one of the few sectors with a shared capability model of its own: the Higher Education Reference Models (HERM), maintained by CAUDIT with partners including EDUCAUSE, UCISA and EUNIS. The HERM lists everything an institution could do, from curriculum design to student success. The work is turning a model like that into a map of what your institution actually does, and then using that map in real decisions. Our course Building the Common Language teaches how to adapt and apply a sector reference model. Its case study is a polytechnic, so the HERM is its example.
